16 Tambourines
Release: All Men Are Fools LP + CD
16 Tambourines formed in December 1984 off the back Steve Roberts' previous band breaking up. The break up lit a fire under Steve as it cost him a slot at The Royal Court in Liverpool. He was determined to play that legendary space so he got in touch with a couple of his friends, came up with a new name and off they went.

The band consisted of Steve Roberts, Tony Elliott and Tony McGrigan with sporadic appearances from Dave Curtis and Brian Smithers.

The band were on a long run of live shows and writing catchy pop songs but could still not find a permanent guitarist or keyboard player.

16 Tambourines were playing most weeks at Rudi's in Liverpool City Centre and picked up interest from publishers and record companies. It was a fateful connection with Trevor Worman who engineered a major record deal with Arista/BMG.

The band recorded their debut LP 'How Green is Your Valley?' across Lincolnshire and London. Not completely content with the record, the band looked forward to the making of their 2nd LP, which just so happened to be 33 years in the making.

The band played their first show since 1990 in 2019 and just as they had been inspired to get the band back together full time and make this much feted follow up album, COVID struck.

Over the course of lockdown, Steve and Tony sent each other tracks back and forth, that they believed would fit their ideology of upbeat, thoughtful pop music.

Recording the second album once lockdown restrictions were lifted, the band finally recorded their 2nd record, mixed by Tony El at Igloo studios, Craig Edmondson at his home studio and mastered by Mike Cave at Parr Street Studios.

The album has been made with a passion that has bubbled under the surface for nearly 4 decades. We are honoured to able to bring 'All Men Are Fools' to you.
